"I don’t want to work" - a nonchalant comment by one of the procurement leaders of our latest win. I want automation to do most of the routine work so that I can focus on the strategic elements of my role.
This is such a powerful articulation of the roles at the leadership level which in “as is” mode is stifled with ever increasing mundane and routine work and it getting worse as the organisations grow.
Contrast this with most of the global companies which have long back gotten over the routine and repetitive works by automating them and focus on innovation thus creating global products and solutions commanding premiums and company valuations larger than GDPs most countries.
Ever imagined the amount of chaos and stress it would create if all our works went up three times pursuing $10 trillion economy. Alongside it will also make us an arbitrage economy with marginal returns.
Going back to the articulation by the procurement leader, I am sure the idea is to focus on strategic areas as Vendor Management, material and product substitution, new product development, go to market strategies … etc all with potential to create value in the business.
We not only believe in this but made it our purpose in our company “to empower the Supply Chain ecosystems” with our innovative digital solutions.
